Japanese Acupuncture and Deep Vein Thrombosis

G’Day,

Hope all is well in your world.

Whilst the video in this post concerns Japanese Acupuncture treatment to assist  Neville’s recovery from adult onset Chickenpox and subsequent Deep Vein Thrombosis, it is with awareness and respect for the strength and power of orthodox medicine and associated pharmaceuticals in relation to the treatment of DVT that this video is presented.

Whilst unaware that Neville was suffering from a life threatening condition and I had little hesitation in referring him to his medical practitioner, especially considering the inexplicable degree of swelling, lack of any physical trauma and his inert response to his initial Japanese Acupuncture treatment.

Thanks to the thoroughness of his medical practitioner and the effective treatment Neville received during his hospitalization, he is well on the road to recovery.

I register no claims that Japanese acupuncture treatment is specifically effective in the treatment of this dangerous condition, however, I do believe that by continuing his acupuncture treatment Neville is giving himself every chance of a full recovery, not only from DVT but from the deleterious after-effects of a severe dose of adult onset chickenpox.

He continues to take the appropriate medication and maintain medical supervision for his condition , in addition through Japanese Acupuncture we have been able to mollify many aggravating symptoms, including unusually strong headaches, restless sleep, lethargy and general mental fogginess.

Here is the Video of the entire treatment.

I guess the moral of the story is, ’If you don’t know, refer to someone who does!’

or

‘Failure to refer through our ignorance is of no help at all to our patients.’

I am  pleased to report that Neville and his lovely wife, Lori had breakfast with me yesterday on the veranda of the Rainbow Bay Surf Club overlooking the magnificent Gold Coast after which we happily strolled up, over and around Point Danger, across the border, from Queensland into New South Wales.

I remain relieved and infinitely grateful that we were able to enjoy the brilliant sunshine and blue skies of an almost perfect spring day.

The outcome could easily have been so very, very different!

Hope you have a good one,

Alan

  1. Hi
Hope all are very well over there with you.

Well, I was very happy to find this article few weeks ago, becouse it gave me hope to cure my DVT.
I am 35 years old man, I got DVT 4 years ago, inside my vein of the left tight, the Doc say there is no cure and he was surprised I got it anyway.
Now, I am living in singapore, last week, after I read your article, I consult a TCM phisician, he use the needles with electricity for me, and I feel my leg is less swollen, but it`s a bit painfull when I touch the place of the DVT after 2 days, the pain almost disappear..

PLS! advise me, shal I continue ? it`s normal to have this feeling after accuponcture session ?

usally, I dont feel pain in my leg at all, just swollen.

    Thank you very much

    Reda

    • Hello Reda,
      Thank you for your question.
I do not use the electricity when treating DVT so I am not really qualified to give advice.
However if the swelling is being reduced and the discomfort resolves within a couple of days then I might assume that this is a fairly positive result.
If you remain concerned I suggest you consult a qualified medical practitioner for further diagnosis.
I hope this helps and all the best with your treatment.
      Kind Regards,
      Alan

  2. I have severe DVT from from the age of 16, now i am 30 year old…i regularly develop ulcer in my left leg…so please advice me..

    • Hi Asif,
Your situation regarding DVT and ulceration of your leg would require a thorough physical examination before I could speculate on the therapeutic potential of Traditional Acupuncture treatment for your condition.
Having said that, I have successfully treated a number of patients suffering from this condition.
I take it that you have sought conventional medical treatment for this condition, unsuccessfully by the sounds of it.
DVT can be a life threatening condition and it would be errant of me to make any claims of therapeutic efficacy without a detailed case history and as I said earlier conducting a thorough physical examination.
I wish you all the best and hope that you are able to find a practitioner who may be able to assist you.
      Kind Regards,
      Alan

  3. My 15 year old son was diagnosed with DVT 6 months ago. He is completely blocked in his right iliac and vena cava. He had an ultrasound and MRI a few weeks ago which showed no change. He takes Coumadin but we have been having a difficult time keeping his level between 2-3. He has been as high as 4.8 and is now at 1.5. After 6 months, we are getting his blood checked 2 times a week. He has added no new meds to his regime. I just found an acupuncturist who is also an oncologist/hematologist. I will be seeing him next week for my fibromyalgia and discussing my son with him. Just to let you know, we are in the Cincinnati area, the hematologists and vascular surgeons at 2 hospitals have never seen a case like this especially since my son is so young, was an ice hockey player for 10 years and extremely healthy. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you so much for you time.
