After a short focused treatment lasting no more than 30 mins I recommended she pursue a consistent and committed regime of a root treatment consisting of Ki.3 -Liv.3 – GB40 plus 7 – 9 cones of Tonetskyu or Rice Grain Moxa on ST36 for the next 6 months.

so good to hear from you…you’ve been big on my mind, as i’m deep
with appreciation for your help, care and guidance, so i appreciate
your checking in on me. i’ve been faithful with the self-treatment,
including the moxa, and the biggest thing i’ve noticed is that my
brain and spirit are returning. i’d really been struggling with
fighting negativity, and that has improved tremendously. also, my
energy is more sustained, though i’m not pushing too hard with
exercise–just doing about half of what i think i can, and that keeps
me from feeling shaky and overdrawn afterward. finally, i feel like
i have a lot more control over my frustration and anger–i’m not
owned by it as i was, and that is improving my relations with and for
the kids day by day. honestly, i can’t thank you enough .
how are you? so looking forward to seeing you again–that was too
short! and i do hope to practice with you next time around…

Greetings and welcome to my last post from my journey to the USA 2008.

I had the good fortune to stay with Mike and Judy high on the hill behind Zuma Beach, Malibu. It just so happened that this pair of Kiwi’s ( New Zealanders ) were having a party on this important day on the American calender and I was able to join in the festivities…..what a way to finish my visit!

I am blown away each and every time I visit the States by the incredible hospitality and camaraderie I experience, truly a very special privilege for which I remain extremely grateful.

A huge thank you to each and every one of my hosts, Andy and Gina in New Jersey/New York, Jamie and Sunshine on the Jersey Shore, Adam and Nina in San Diego, the Rubio’s in Agoura Hills, Mike n Judy in Malibu, to all those who made the effort and took the time to participate in the workshops, Pat on the Jersey shore who plied me with prodigious quantities of Chinese Beer followed the next day by a consummate chiropractic treatment, and Matty n Kirsten for showing me a good time at the San Diego State Fair and blooding me with Frisbee on the beach.

No wonder I want to go back next year!

Thanks heaps guys for a unforgettable journey through the USA in 2008, to each and every one of you I extend an invitation to come on downunda , I would love the opportunity to reciprocate.

Ray took the day off clinic on the Wednesday and we visited the private beaches of Point Dume, some 12 miles away in Malibu.

Such an amazingly aesthetic spot, combined with the Rubio’s incredible hospitality I had a rejuvenating couple of days recovering from the adventures of New York, New Jersey and San Diego. Many thanks to Ray and Tatania for their ongoing friendship and hospitality.

I spent a couple of extraordinarily pleasurable days in Agoura Hills, just north of LA off the 101 with Dr. Ray Rubio, Tatiana and their 2 beautiful children, playing in and out of the pool, consuming delectable Mexican BBQ delights and drinking all their beer during the very welcome 90deg F. days.

Ray is also a professor at Emporers College in LA.

We first met in 2002 at Masakazu Ikeda sensei’s San Francisco workshop when he graciously offered me a lift to LA on my way to San Diego.

Since that time I have visited the growing Rubio household on every visit to the States, although they have moved from Hollywood to the greener pastures of Agoura Hills.

I was delighted to meet Ray and Tatania’s youngest child. Jesse for the first time and as honorary uncle to their eldest child Savannah, reacquaint myself with my surrogate American niece.

I was due to meet Sarica in her place of upbringing, Ventura.

Sarica was the subject of some of my earliest posts last year and was very keen to receive a Japanese acupuncture treatment.

A mother of 2 young children, having suffered from a severe prolapsed intervertabral disc requiring a lamenectomy, Sarica was exhausted and struggling to recover her mojo.

In a nutshell she was suffering from Liver Yang Deficiency syndrome or what we commonly know as exhaustion.

I had originally met Sarica in 2002 when she attended my workshop in San Diego.

As fate would have it, Sarica was then a resident of Flagstaff, Arizona in the mountains about 2 hours north of Phoenix.

At the time I was heading to Phoenix to attend a real estate investment boot camp and Sarica kindly extended an invitation for me to visit upon the completion of the boot camp.

My schedule allowed such indulgences and I took her up on her invitation and was introduced to the wonders of Flag and surrounding environs including Sedona.

In 2002 Sarica had established practices in Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon some 40 minutes drive away.

In 2008 Sarica has moved to Phoenix and was struggling to find an Acupuncturist to help her regain some of her vital energy so insidiously drained by the combination of recovery from surgery and parenting 2 young children.

On each and every occasion that she had received treatment over the last 6 months, Sarica had left feeling absolutely exhausted and had become extremely TCM shy as a result, hence her keenness to receive treatment from me whilst I was in the States.

As circumstance would have it, my schedule allowed us to meet in Ventura, as my next destination was Agoura Hills and the home of the mysterious Dr. Rubio, his beautiful wife Tatiana and their 2 young children about a 30 minute drive from Ventura where Sarica was staying with her parents.

To cut a long story short , Ray turned up early to give me a lift back to his place and I ended up treating Sarica a couple of days later in Agoura Hills, never the less a whirlwind tour of the town of Ventura and a luscious lunch ensued prior to my departure from this quaint and revitalized coastal community.
