Japanese Acupuncture Workshops in 2010

The Japanese acupuncture workshop schedule for 2010 is taking a more defined shape as we move inexorably into a very enticing year.

There is a strong possibility that I will be presenting a Japanese Acupuncture workshop in Prague later this year, Renata is working diligently to this end.

At this stage October is looking the most likely possibility.

I am also in discussion with Catherine about the possibility of presenting a Japanese Acupuncture Workshop in Melbourne sometime in 2010.

Kayomi has contacted me asking when and where I will be presenting my next workshop in the United States.

Subject to sufficient interest the most probable location for a Japanese Acupuncture workshop in the United States in 2010 would be San Diego, the timing more than likely would be late July.

This is an opportune time to mention that Masakazu Ikeda sensei will be presenting a Japanese Acupuncture workshop in San Francisco in March.

I highly recommend his workshops, I believe that they are an essential ingredient for those of us serious about taking our acupuncture practice to the next level, that has certainly been the case for me.

Tying myself down long enough to write this blog post has been somewhat excruciating and I would liken the experience to catching an unwilling greased pig.

Not withstanding that the surf has been pumping since last Wednesday, I’ve just returned from the Luminate 10 festival on the South Island of New Zealand,6 days of perfectly clear blue skies, radiant sunshine, crystal moonlit nights a chilly 2000 feet up in the mountains.

I was treated to an incredible musical banquet lasting 108 hours, the variety and quality of the music was quite outstanding and has left me in awe of the diverse nature of humanity and our creativity.

I captured a couple of thousand images that I have been beavering away editing since my return.

Below are a few images that hopefully reflect the harmony and diversity of Luminate 10.

Fiery Musical Luminations from Luminate 09

Greetings n Salutations,

This will be my final post regarding the Luminate 09 Music and Lifestyle Festival.

I must confess !

On the final night in the midst of an inspirational set by Adham Shaikh, who’s music and my desire to capture pertinent images of Adham in full swing was my primary motivation for attending the festival, I lost a memory card containing 300 images of many of the artists and performers including Adham’s day set on the Sunday and Miharangi’ s powerful set on Saturday night plus a comprehensive pictorial social commentary of the main 48 hrs of the festival.

Despite the commendable efforts of the organizers of Luminate 09 on my behalf the memory card is just that, A Memory!

So here goes for some pictorial highlights of the final icy cold evening of the Luminate 09 Festival, we certainly needed warming up and as you can see from the following images we were warmed up PLUS, PLUS, PLUS!

12 Month Old Baby Enjoys Her 1st Japanese Acupuncture Treatment

Gooday To You,

It’s blustery, rainy and an ominous skied Rainbow Bay today.

In clinic yesterday we treated a 12 month old Maddison who weighed just 5kgs.

This beautiful girl was an absolute delight to treat, her happy demeanor affected us all in the most positive way.

After 3 months in hospital accompanied by her mum and undergoing every orthodox medical test under the sun, the medicos can find zilch physiological explanation on her failure to gain weight.

This little one is happy to go an entire day without eating and her mother is becoming increasingly concerned.

Even so Maddy is one switched on little girl, communicating at will through her eyes and actions to all n sundry.

Incidentally she is well ahead of the average in the mobility stakes having sat, crawled and walked well ahead of schedule.

We started with a Spleen Root treatment followed by some gentle work on her Leg Yangming meridian, abdomen and upper back, finishing with some extremely gentle Do-In on her lower leg.

Maddy laughed and smiled her way through treatment protesting only about restriction of movement when Pe7 and SP3 were administered.

Maddy’s mum is at wit’s end, having tried everything Orthodox Medicine and a myriad of Complimentary Medicines have to offer.

I will keep you posted on progress.

After a huge afternoon in clinic yesterday I have to say what a pleasure it is to come back such a wonderful crew of patient’s, colleagues and students.

I don’t know whether it is against the law to have such a good time at work but if that is the case, I have earned a life sentence and am loving every minute of it.

Luminations from the Land of Lord of the Rings

Greetings and Salutation’s,

I am writing from Rainbow Bay, Gold Coast, Australia on a magnificent sub- tropical summer’s day.
To say that I am grateful to call this stunning beach, bay, headland, ocean, maker of extra ordinary surfing waves, home, is an understatement of the highest order!

What an amazing place to come back to after two weeks of traveling through and photographing the west coast and north-west of the South Island of New Zealand.

10 nights of camping the last five of which were spent on the Canaan Downs, one of the prime locations for the filming of Lord of the Rings.

A location that just happened to coincide with heaps of great music and lot’s of dancing at ‘Luminate 09’, music/lifestyle festival http://nativeharmonics.co.nz/luminate high up in the mountains bordering the Abel Tasman National Park.

My version of these shenanigans, the magnificence of this planet and its amazing array of inhabitants photographically follows.

It has been incredibly difficult to get back in the virtual saddle after such a memorable, almost entirely virtually devoid start to 2009.
Today I return to a potentially all consuming virtual world, earthed and ocean’d out, I thank for your patience and understanding.

As a result of my recent travels I have re committed to maintaining some semblance of balance between the virtual and real worlds for the duration of 2009.

It is with a distinct sense of disbelief that I read the headlines, see and hear the broadcasts of the tragedy unfolding in Victoria’s unrelenting bushfires, 60% of Queensland utterly flooded for more than two weeks, Fiji devastated by recent flooding, all of these natural phenomena occuring in our tiny little corner of the globe!

Mother nature flexing some muscle and showing us the size of her guns, my heart goes out to all affected by these climatic extremes.

How could I not be absolutely grateful to live where I do, to work with a truly unique team of very talented colleagues, teach and practice acupuncture with an such exceptional group of enthusiastic students, all in the process of caring for our often inspirational, always amazing patients.

Amazing Mullumbimby Music Festival

G’Day from Downunda,

This post is all about music and the people that make it .

I believe they lighten the load that is foist upon us in the 21st Century and help devolve the stress and anxiety that the main stream media is jamming down our throats on a daily basis.

I would like to take this opportunity to say thanks to our makers of music and those tireless visionaries like Glenn Wright and his crew for taking the huge punt of putting on a brand new event www.mullummusicfestival.com in such an unnerving economical climate.

These are just a few of the images I captured and I hope they convey to you some of the amazing energy that was emanating from the hills behind Byron Bay, Australia yesterday.

With a practitioner applying treatment in Sydney 100′s of miles away and yours truly supplying advice over the phone we are making significant inroads in aiding the recovery of her partner who was the victim of a severe head trauma that required massive surgical intervention and has resulted in a real battle for not only his recovery but to quell his constant debilitating pain.
